The 18th Annual Buford Pusser Festival was a huge success. There are so many memories I will take with me from this year's event. From the naming of the Buford Pusser Law Enforcement Officer of the Year to the showing of Walking Tall on the big screen in the park, it was all a memorable event.
My daughters Atoyia and Madison played a big part in helping me organize the festival this year. I couldn't have done it without them.

“This is truly an honor,” said Sheriff Gaines. “We are fully aware of the contributions Sheriff Pusser made and I am honored to accept the award.”
Gaines is the longest serving sheriff in Warren County’s history. He was first elected to office in 1978 and is now serving his 5th term. Gaines is very active with his community’s youth and senior citizens programs and is a four time president of the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association. “It was a difficult decision, but based on his many years of service, Sheriff Gaines was the obvious choice”, said Dwana Pusser as she read of the officer’s many accomplishments. |
